January 1998

I took a drive along l’Anse à l’Orme woods this morning, hoping to catch a glimpse of some deer that inhabit the woods. I didn’t see any but when I looked up at these electrical pylons I was reminded of the ice storm of 1998. Especially since earlier I had spent a long time scraping the freezing rain off my car. I think if you lived through that storm you can’t easily forget it, since it kept it us in the dark and the cold for days or even weeks.

Nice one! I like the restrained colour palette you used in this, but I can’t help thinking that you get it easy with your snowy winter subjects… you only have to paint half of the page.

  2. That’s perfect because I only have half the time these days.

Lovely. How do you get the electrical wires not to bleed into the sky colour?

thats a challenging subject on a grey gloomy day – good job of fading colourto portray distance

Ah the ice storm, I remember it also…

The texture in the grasses is beautiful!
