Demolition
Posted: February 22, 2012 Filed under: Uncategorized 10 Comments »They were knocking down a building at a strip mall near my house today. It’s amazing how many people love to watch demolition. Car after car stopped nearby, people got out and watched for a while, and in the time I did this sketch a whole building disappeared.

nice puddles
Thanks John.
Wow, I love those repeating squares in the windows and repeating stripes in the puddles and barricades. You’ve inspired me to try to paint puddles, of which we have lots of in Portland, OR.
It was fun to paint the puddles and I guess we’ll have more of them as the snow melts.
Nice one, Shari.
What a great idea it was to capture something as transient as a building demolition in a painting. You seem to consistently find these interesting subjects in the most unlikely places.
And I agree with the others… love the puddles.
I wasn’t going to post this because I thought it got too mucky in the middle. And then I was going to write something about the mess that I thought it was but I stopped myself and posted it anyway.
As you appear to be at your computer, would you care to explain “mucky in the middle”? Is that a Canadian expresion?
Mucky means dirty and the middle refers to the area with the cones on the left under the barrier. I felt that area was overworked and not as cleanly painted as it could have been.
amazing – I really enjoy to watch your posts arrive everyday !
Thanks Alissa!
