Petite France and a little video
Posted: June 14, 2012 Filed under: Uncategorized 30 Comments »I was totally surprised and extremely touched when a participant from my Paris workshop sent me this link to a video he had put together from scenes he shot during our two days of sketching. I had absolutely no idea he was filming during that time! So a very big merci to Michel Colson for this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aR1LA4GsCPQ&feature=youtu.be
Warning: this may not work in all countries. It worked in France and Canada but not in the USA because of a copyright on the music. Write me a comment to let me know if it works where you are.
This scene was painted in Petite France, the oldest area of Strasbourg that dates from the Middle Ages.

You are a movie star in Australia!
I Loved the video. Merci beaucoup, Michel. What a treat! (It works really well in Ottawa, Canada.)
Love this video. It’s like you have your own theme music, now! (As you must know, it works very well in Montreal.)
Thank you so much for all the beauty we receive daily. Merci et bon séjour!

Lovely~ The artwork and the video~
I loved the video! It works without a glitch in Dollard des Ormeaux. I love starting my day anticipating what wonderful portrayal of your surroundings you will have on your blog. You are opening my eyes to see the beauty of what is around me.
Thank you so much Eleanor for those very kind words.
A professional looking and very well done video – just great – I felt I was looking over your shoulder !! What a lovely surprise for us all! Just wish I could have been there! Helen
Thanks Helen. It was so great for me to receive this. What a fantastic surprise.
Great video. As said before, I felt I was there in your group. Wish I could have been there also. Such great sketches. Thanks for sharing.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it Martha. It really captured the moment for me too.
That is a great video. The participants did some nice work too. Beautiful painting today.
Everyone did beautiful work!
Works here in Australia
cheers Julian
Thanks Julian.
Thanks again to you.
Merci Marisa. Je vais regarder les photos en arrivant a la maison. C’etait vraiment une plaisir pour moi de t’avoir dans la groupe.
Ah, Vesselava is Marisa.
In this era of facebook, I gave the video, and another reminder to visit your blog, central stage on my wall. Great fun to watch, it’s like a little visit to Paris. Well done, participants, videographer and, of course, you, Shari!
Thanks Mona. It is such a wonderful gift for me to have this video as a reminder. I am so indebted Michel.
Great Shari. Bravo à Michel!
Glad you got to see it Alison. It really captured the two days.
Great to see you (all) at work.
It was such a wonderful workshop Rene.
I was just at that location sketching that same scene last month! I’ll send you a couple of photos to prove it!
And as it turns out we sat a the same table at the same cafe. That is just too freaky!!
I think this is my favorite of your latest French sketches, Shar, this is amazingly beautiful. The colors are as translucent as the water in the scene, and neat to see the Normand influences on the buildings too. “Je l’adore!”
Unfortunately, neither visuals or audio here on the video, as attempted from sunny Southern Cal.

I’m so glad you like this one. Strasbourg is so “sketchable”. Too bad you can’t see the video because it’s great. We’ll just have to wait until you visit.
In Germany I could not see this video either, then I told Michel and he gave me another link. So those in the US who cannot watch it on You Tube, just try with this:

Shari, this was a wonderful workshop, thanks again for that great days! I carry what you taught us in my bag every day and try to apply it!
The video reflects perfectly how nice this experience was.
Hi Miriam.
I’m so glad to hear from you. Thanks for the link. I am in the US this weekend so I will try it.
The workshop was so wonderful for me too and it brings back such great memories every time I see the video. I’m really glad I left you with some things that you could use in your sketches which were fantastic to begin with. Hopefully we’ll see each other again, maybe when you come to North America for work. Please stay in touch.
