Dominos on Parque Colon

This sketch is a continuation of “improvising with line and color” workshop. This time the exercise was to incorporate words into the drawing. These men gathered around a lively game of dominos is something I keep coming back to in my work. I drew them from a distance and then got closer to pick up some of the words they were saying – but apparently I don’t remember my high school Spanish very well because some of these are not even real words.

I really like this restrained use of line and colour! These guys must be starting to think that you are stalking them… and I am beginning to wonder if you have a fetish for men playing dominoes.

And, good to see you found your brush… have you got some more of these little coloured gems in your sketchbooks after the past few days?

    • I do have more to post! Just need some time to think about what I want to write. They will come in time.

    • Ross C says:

That looks so much better! And suddenly, there is a stamp… was that there before?

      • Are you just sitting there waiting for me to rescan them? How do you know I just did this? When I photographed this the first time I hadn’t stamped it yet but then I found John Wright with his stamps and added these to all my sketches.

      • Ross C says:

Sorry to disappoint you but, no, I’m not just sitting constantly checking.
After I received notice of today’s post, I thought I would give you a little while to see if you took heed of my “reminder”… which you did. So, why don’t you just scan the last few and be done with it?

      • I am disappointed! I thought that was all you did.
The rest are coming. You really are not patient at all. This takes time you know.

      • Ross C says:

Sorry, I had unreasonable expectations… but when you said “a few every day”, I thought that you meant that you would actually scan “a few” of your sketches “every day” and post them… stupid of me. And, of course, I do understand that it takes soooo long to scan a few sketches. : )

      • Ross C says:

Two more! This is painfully sloooow… like being drip fed.

      • I’m almost done but then I’ll have all the Portland sketches!

      • Ross C says:

I give up… I have just enrolled in a patience development course at a local therapy centre.

      • Ross C says:

My therapist says that I am fine now… but he suggests that you might like to enroll in the “Dealing with Procrastination” course… should I send you details?

      • I’m so happy for you Ross. But no thanks, I don’t think I need the brochure. Maybe your therapist could tell me how I could add just one hour to each day so I could find time to do those scans.

      • Ross C says:

Why do I feel like a squeaky wheel? They look so much better!

      • They do! Just a few left to do from my drawings at the Opera.

i really like your composition of nice fluid lines defining the huddle of concentrating men,
archway of trees containing them and architectural fence background…beautiful! :)
