Kiosk on rue St. Denis
Posted: July 29, 2012 Filed under: Uncategorized 12 CommentsThere’s not too much green space on lower rue St. Denis. Lined on both sides by theatres, bars, cafés and restaurants, and running through the heart of the Quartier Latin, this wouldn’t be the first place I would think of to buy fruit or flowers. But in front of Place Pasteur (one of UQAM’s public spaces) this little green kiosk was pretty much bursting with greenery. Another find in my city.
I’ve been following your blog and work for about four months now and I enjoy, and learn from, every one of the pieces you make. You have such a lovely, light touch and lyrical style. Thank you for brightening every day!

It’s wonderful how you create a feeling of so much detail without really much detail. Love the pillar and arch, a perfect contrast to the kiosk. Such skill! Something I’m appreciating even more since trying my hand at sketching.

Without my pen, it’s true that I have much less detail. I tried not to get too fussy with this one. Didn’t want to paint every flower, every apple, etc.

That’s my favourite store. Next time I should paint closer to there so I can stop by.

Another beauty. Simple, yet it’s all there. Tells a nice story.

Thanks Helmut. I picked it because I thought it looked simple but it was in fact very detailed. It took more time than I expected.
