Drawing more figures
Posted: January 8, 2013 Filed under: Uncategorized 13 Comments »I don’t usually make New Year’s resolutions so let’s just call this a promise to myself to sketch more people in 2013. Besides cafés, food courts are usually good sketching spots. This man had just finished eating his smoked meat sandwich when I drew him. I think he was spending a few minutes digesting while his wife finished her meal. She was equally interesting but she got up and left before I could draw her. Must have been something he said.

You caught him well.
I’m trying Lee. Your advice was good.
He probably said “Don’t look to your left, but there is a woman sitting over there who keeps looking my way. Do you think she is taken by my obvious charisma?”
You can tell from my sketch that he had lots of charisma! I knew that would come through.
Yes, the “charisma” certainly comes through.
I bet that he then suggested to his wife that she might like to do some shopping… while thinking “if I am sitting alone, that woman might come over and start talking to me” : )
Great sketch:)
Thanks Monique!
Lovely, lively lines and a great capture!
That could be a good promise to me, too. Sketching people, hmm…I’m a bit scary about it…
Hi Shari,
It made me laugh!
you show your sense of humour with this piece — bravo
I guess that sketch is a bit like a cartoon as well : )
Hi Shari,
Is the sketch done with pen and soft pencil, charcoal…?
Hi Susan. This was done with a fine pen and watersoluble pencil (Inktense).
