Mud
Posted: January 18, 2013 Filed under: Uncategorized 8 Comments »I was happily surprised when I opened my travel palette and realized that I had forgotten to clean it yesterday. Normally that would be a problem but not today. The mud was that was left on the tray was the perfect colour for my spuds. All I needed to do was refresh it with a little water.

Thanks Susan. I like the red lines too. I think it works well for these russets.
Because I am so inexperienced, I usually leave my “mud.” It means that I do not have to struggle to get the colours that I worked so hard to get the last time I painted. For me, it is not really being lazy, it is my strategy for coping and being able to work in the small amount of time I often have to do a sketch.
I do that sometimes too Verla. I always love those mud colours.
Sometimes I’ll do whole paintings with mud because it’s coincidentally the perfect color every time. The spuds look great.
