Alstroemeria, again

I felt I owed it to these flowers to paint them again. Last week when I posted them on Flickr I called them Freesias! I guess people were too polite to tell me, or no one knows the difference, but here and now, I stand corrected.

11″ x 15″, Fabriano cold press paper, 300lb.

Would love to watch you paint this as a demo. The vertical lines throughout are lovely. The water in the vase also lovely. Flowers are very complex. (Interested in giving a workshop on doing flowers?) Love the cool tones throughout. A sight for sore eyes on this bitter January day.

    • Hi Valerie. Can you take a day out of your busy learning schedule for a workshop. I would love to give a class on flowers. Now that I have Barcelona scheduled I am thinking about the other workshops that I will give this spring/summer. I will add this to the list.

    Dear Shari,

I hope you are well. How much is the Alstroemeria painting?

  6. These are beautiful. It is motivating me to paint some flowers again.

    • Thanks Gail. I don’t usually paint flowers. Flowers + watercolour = cliché
But these days it is so cold outside that I have been doing more indoors and I really felt I needed to see greenery. And I have been enjoying doing these. The next one will be wet-in-wet since I haven’t done that yet. Unless the flowers die first.
