Winter sky
Posted: March 1, 2013 Filed under: Uncategorized 20 CommentsIf you live in Montreal and are free on Saturday night, come down to the Canadian Centre for Architecture between 7 pm and 1 am for a drawing party. As part of the Nuit Blanche festivities, Marc Taro Holmes and I will be doing giant sketches of Montreal on the walls of the gallery and people are invited to draw on top of our drawings, add to them or just plain create their own. You can read more about the event on USk Montreal.
My painting today is the winter sky seen from the shores of Lac St. Louis in Pointe Claire. A perfectly calming exercise for a Friday afternoon after a long week.
Beautiful and classic watercolor. Less really is more hey?

Wow what a fantastic sky. Beautiful in all its basic quality. I don’t know how often I tried to do something like this, but never with this result.

Absolutely beautiful Shari. You have captured the drama and the calm. Glad you were able to find a moment of calm yourself.

What an amazing sense of depth you have here. That horizon looks miles and miles away. And I like the way you have developed the clouds to aim the viewer’s eye into the painting. I could live with this forever.

Hmmm… “giant sketches on the walls” with people looking on… are you sure that you can do that? It is possible that your considerable talent and abilities may not extend beyond 30×22? Could be embarrassing with all those people watching. : )
By the way, great sky!

Thanks Ross. Yes, the mural turned out really well. And we had a great time meeting all those people too.
