Wet-in-wet watercolor demo

In fact, today is the first time this has happened in the close to two years since I have been posting my sketches. If you are interested in how this demo was done, I will point you in the direction of Citizen Sketcher, the always amazing, well-written and informative blog by my friend and fellow painter Marc Taro Holmes.

Hello Shari — I love the technique that you showed Marc. God! It brought me back to the first workshop that I had with you… I had wet my paper and forgotten to dry it — and you came to my rescue! That you for sharing -)

I don’t use this technique often enough in my work Jane but I intend to do it more often. It is a little more difficult to do in the field because it requires more equipment than what I usually carry. And yes, I remember well that first workshop!

I would love to do that Minerva but my day job as a teacher in a CEGEP takes up most of my time in the winter.
I will keep you in mind, though, if something changes.

That was great to see, especially for someone like me who is more skilled at admiring a painting than doing one. It allowed me to see the future possibilities of me with a brush in my hand.

Love the wet painting… the flower shapes and colours are so suggestive of the subject… a nice change of style for you too. And so nice to have someone to do all the hard writing work while you have all the fun… it’s like having your very own Dr Watson.
