Honey Locust panorama
Posted: October 23, 2013 Filed under: Uncategorized 17 CommentsI’ve been waiting oh sooooo patiently for the leaves to fall so I can sketch a lunchtime panorama from my window at school. Until this week my view of the city was obscured by foliage but now all that remains is the bright yellow of the Honey Locusts and soon that will be gone too. I tried to add a scroll bar to this image — something I’ve seen work well on panoramic images in other blogs — but I can’t seem to find out how to do this. Any help would be appreciated. For the technologically inclined: this is not a self-hosted WordPress site so I don’t think I can add a plug-in.

Lovely piece and warm coloring Shari!! Your autumn seems almost over! Here we have some time left still and it invites to spend time outside when it´s not raining so hard as these days.
I use a scrollbox for my posts in blogger. As I´m no expert in this I don´t know if it works here. If you think it could work let me know and I send you the code.

Thank you Shari, I´m very well, painting a lot for an upcoming exhibit. For the leporellos in my blog I use scrollbox. Here you have the different styles: http://www.quackit.com/html/codes/html_scroll_box.cfm
I use the one where the source is the image on flickr as there I can easily copy the HTML-Code from the image I like to put in the box. Just adjust the wide (and height if necessary to your website) in the basic code. Then you put in the code of the image. You find also the indication for just a horizontal bar (like you´ll need in this case). If you have any questions, let me know! Big hug

Yes, it´s in january and we have to finish the catalogue these days. It´ll be in the Centro Cultural de la Deputación de Ourense, a bit intimidating^^ but I´m very excited about it! =)

Terrific colours. I really like the big trees in the foreground and the contrast of the organic shapes against the city’s geometric pattern of buildings. Might this lead to a larger painting?

Thanks Alison. I was thinking that I might take this to a larger painting. Someone has been asking for a mountain scene of Montreal and I think this could work.

We have a similar scene nearby, except the near trees are palms at the edge of one of our many lakes with the opposite shoreline showing beyond. I am going to shamelessly steal what I learn from this lovely sketch to make a sketch of my own. I overpaint everything and you are so economical. Lovely work, as always.

Wondering are you using the brush or the tecnology of a paint brush to paint. How do you find the time eachday? Wha t school do you see this view from?

Hi Sharon,
When you say the technology of a paint brush do you mean was this painted on a tablet? If so, no it wasn’t. I started this blog to get away from drawing on the computer so everything is done on paper except for one very early drawing that I did on an ipad. I used watercolours and brushes for this. I work at a college in Montreal and this is the view from a window. As for finding the time, I usually draw on my way to work so if I am organized and leave a bit early I can fit a sketch in. Somedays I draw on my lunch hour, like this one.
