A bunch

The grey November landscape hasn’t inspired me much but there’s snow on the way tonight. In the meantime, a bunch of bananas allowed me to work a bit in my very small Moleskine sketchbook, something I haven’t picked up a while. With this I tried to keep the washes clean and loose, and not touch the surface of the paper too many times in one place.

Delicious. The violet/purple is such a great foil for the banana yellow. As someone who enjoys the small format moleskine I really appreciate your technique tip. You keep it loose, but still manage to convey the bulk of the fruit, with just the right stroke of the brush. Marvelous!

Great bananas! What always surprises me about drawing bananas is that you soon realize that they are square-ish in cross section… not circular like most people think they are.
