Cats
Posted: November 12, 2014 Filed under: Uncategorized 18 CommentsWith my palette freshly filled with bright yellows and oranges untouched by dirty brushes, the tractors seemed the perfect subject today. Backlit against the dramatic November sky, glimmering in the sun, they were a touch of colour in a landscape that is quickly becoming colourless as the last leaves fall and we wait for the first snowflakes to appear.
Love these, and yeah; always fun to paint or render in bold yellow. Totally dig the detailing on the Cats. The orange siren atop the Cat on the left is winner!

I haven’t had any of your wonderful watercolours for a while, and I am missing them. Do you know the reason?

It could be because I don’t post everyday. I don’t really have a way to check who receives them. If they don’t seem to be arriving in your inbox, just enter your email address in the “Follow this blog” box once again.

I love the depth here, the yellow tractors pop out and the background pieces draw you in. I’m sending your calendar shortly, hope you like it. xo Jacques

I have been sketching and painting this subject type for some time. I grew up sketching and painting but as an adult worked in the heavy equipment operator industry for over 30 years. How you simplified and broke down shapes but at the same time illustrated well enough for me to be able to identify these tractors to specific models is incredible! The wheel loader is a 980K and the Articulating Truck on the right is a 730 or 735. I try to draw the same subjects only to still over complicate…thank you for uncomplicating a subject I may forever complicate!

HI Tim. Thanks so much for writing. This sketch was done a while ago so I had to think back a bit to remember what it was but of course I remember now. Glad you like it! As you might have figured out by now, I love to draw industrial stuff but hardly ever know the names of things, so thanks for sending the info. And so happy to hear that you paint and sketch too!
Regards,
Shari
