Blossom time
Posted: May 15, 2015 Filed under: Uncategorized 13 CommentsWhat makes today unique? That’s the question I ask myself when I look for sketching subjects. Walking the dog in the morning often affords me the time to think of what might make a good subject because while I wander around the neighbourhood, I have a chance to assess the weather, the light, the clouds and even the trash that people put out on the street (see some examples here, here and here.) I suppose you can see where this is leading. This week the fruit trees in my neighboorhood are a joyous burst of colour, and I know it won’t last long. I did this series in a Moleskine A4 book, treating the mass of flowers on each tree as a simple shape rather than individual blossoms.

It’s amazing that you see everything, but really everything that is around you…
For me, it’s a course. It opens my eyes!
I just hope my feeling is well translated… in English. I’d write lines and lines in French.
I used to wait for the postman every day, and it made my day.
But now, I wait for your daily drawing and it makes my day!!!

Great sketchbook page! As always, repetition is a wonderful thing… individually these are each just basic little studies but together, they tell quite an elegant story about what you saw.

Oh, a wonderful lesson in capturing shapes. And small shape sketches like these give the opportunity to play around with colour too. Thankyou for the inspiration. Beautiful colours.

I like the way you handled this! The blossoms and colors come and go so quickly. This was a great way to capture it.
