Trees and the City: an Ottawa workshop
Posted: August 15, 2017 Filed under: Uncategorized 11 CommentsI had a wonderful experience teaching at the Urban Sketchers symposium in Chicago, so it makes me happy to announce that I will be repeating my workshop at a location not too far from home — in Ottawa, Ontario, on September 30, 2017. I don’t usually hold workshops during my college teaching semester, but I said yes to this request from the Ottawa Urban Sketchers since this is a half-day event in a city close to Montreal.
The format of the workshop will be the same as all the symposium workshops — three hours of instruction and sketching together. We’ll focus on capturing trees in an urban environment. If you are interested in joining me, details about the workshop format, supplies and registration are on the Urban Sketchers Workshop page.
I’m usually too busy during my workshops to take photos but I did manage to capture a few pics of participants and their sketches from the symposium in Chicago.
Hi Shari:
Am very interested in upcoming workshop in Ottawa? Can I email you with some questions?

Hi Shari
Have you considered doing this Tree Workshop in your Craftsy course ?

Hi Soni, I have considered many new courses on Craftsy. The problem is not that they don’t want me to do one. The problem is that it’s a matter of time for me. I have a full-time teaching job that only allows me a small window in the summer to hold workshops. My teaching semester at college takes up all my time. I had briefly considered doing another class in this autumn but then realized that it would be insane to try to plan it at the same time as I am prepping, teaching and grading three college classes. So that is the reason. It doesn’t mean that I won’t be able to do it one of these days, but just not right now.

Thanks for replying – I think you need 3 more vacations !!!!!!! I’m reviewing not only your paintings for the Ottawa WS but the criteria you’re laying out for it ; that gives a lot of painting info – you’re just the best & we all are little sponges
Now go take some downtime & pet darling Alice for me

I wish I was in Ottawa! However, I would second Soni’s request. A while back I actually wrote to Craftsy asking for a course lead by you to cover trees, plants and flowers in watercolour!
