Ingredient list

With not much to sketch outdoors (grey sky, grey light, grey trees), I came home from the grocery store with a small bouquet of colour to cook up. A simple recipe for my dinner: mostly Quinacridone Rose for the flowers (with a little Cobalt in the darkest parts and a touch of yellow too); Hansa Yellow and Phthalo Blue for the leaves (with a bit of Ultramarine to dull it down); and a blueish grey made from Cerulean for the background. Put it all together and shake it up. Sketched in a Handbook Journal, 9″ x 12″.Bouquet

Beautiful. I love your use of colors – in all of your sketches and paintings. They are clear and vibrant, but harmonious and not overly bright.

A gorgeous painting. You have painted these flowers beautifully. Thank you for every and all teaching details that you provide with your work. I don’t know how you manage to produce so much wonderful art and still get the mundane chores of daily life done. How do you do it?

    • Hi Sue, Thanks for writing. As for how I get this done, where do I begin?
      1. I have a wonderful husband and family who support me
      2. Lots of stuff gets neglected in my house!
      3. I make it a priority
      4. I try to draw early in the day when I have more energy.
      5. I try to be realistic about the amount of time I have and the size of sketch I do.
      6. I carry a sketchbook with me at all times because you never know when you might have a few minutes to draw. Even a few minutes every day will improve your skills.

Thank you for the recipe..:) I love your bouquets..do you hang your art in your home?

    • Hi Monique,
I do hang my art but mostly I love to look at other people’s work so that is what is hanging on my walls. I have drawers and shelves full of my paintings but I would rather if they hung in other people’s houses.
