Tranquil

I never thought this list would be something I would follow, but it’s leading me down a new path that I’m enjoying. The words from the list are conjuring up images for me — of places I have been or of scenes I want to paint — and the diluted ink is giving me a new way to explore them. With colour decisions removed from the equation I can focus solely on the design of the lights and darks, and perhaps in the process end up with something that will be the sketch for a new painting someday soon.

Just wonderful. And as strong or more so than a colored painting. And this is only Day 2.

You nailed it again with the fifty shades of grey. I worked in this style years ago as a free lancer doing spot illustrations. It’s amazing the beautiful work that can be done using diluted ink applied with a brush. The delicate use of the white of the paper brought about a delightful “snap” in the picture. The only problem with using diluted india ink and brush it’s tough on sables if one doesn’t thoroughly clean them.

Inktober sounds cool..actually I’ve been doing much the same w/watercolor..burnt sienna! It does take color out of the equation..I’m working from old black/white family photos..havin’ fun
