Catch-up day

After sitting in front of a computer screen for weeks and weeks, getting my online new course ready, it was time to catch up on other stuff today. But before I talk about that, let me send a huge thank you to everyone who signed up for the class. The response was tremendous and I am very appreciative.

And now back to catch-up day. There’s lots to do in the house that didn’t get done during video production. Like spring cleaning. And preparing my taxes. And raking in the garden. But before any of that got started, I caught up on procrastination by pulling out a sketchbook. I am, after all, way behind on filling up my isolation/quarantine sketchbook. And clearly rusty in drawing too. So tomorrow, before I clean, or rake, or do the taxes, I will certainly be starting with drawing.

Things should be done in order of importance—so sketching it is! 😁

    • Thanks so much Laurie. Yes, there are so many things that need doing this month, but glad you are keeping up the sketchbook too. Some day we will look back and remember this as the time that we just HAD TO stay home and draw.

    Hi Shari

I persevered yesterday & got thru enrollment, binge watched all way through, and absolutely thrilled with every helpful chapter.

Can’t wait to sit down and actually do the work.

    You’re always a great inspiration & teach.

    Thank you
    Soni

PS I think registration glitches were due to millions globally enrolling 🤣🤩🤸🏿‍♂️

    • Soni, thanks so much for enrolling. Yes, I did hear that a few people had difficulty getting in, but I think eventually all of that got sorted out. So happy that you like it, and very appreciative of the feedback.

Just finished your new online course and enjoyed it. It was like you being right here with me—a great trick given the current isolation. Looking forward to choosing a garden photo and putting what I learned into action. I’m hoping you’ll do a sea coast or water class at some time once you’ve recovered from your first one. Take care, Carol

Shari: I read something to the effect that now that we’re all confined and have no “excuse” why we haven’t cleaned or whatever. We’re finding out now we just didn’t want to do it! Ha! That’s me for sure. I’d rather be sketching and painting. I just got back from the drive-thru bank (only my 5th time out of the house in the past 31 days other than walking Sophie). I did one sketch ON LINE which came out not bad, and another one afterward of a corporate building nearby. Your course is great!

    • Great to hear from you Rita, and so glad that you like the class. I wish we had a drive-through bank here too. They are not that popular in Canada. I have some banking to do but I’m procrastinating about that too!

Hi Shari, I loved your account of procrastinating, but you were working on a worthy project. Just want to say, I won’t be taking this first video class but I’m looking forward to participating in the future. There is great excitement out here for your teaching online.

Here’s a photo I took yesterday that will bring back memories. Took only part of it because maybe I can accomplish painting a section!

    • Thanks so much Mary. Always great to hear from you. I can’t see your photo. For some reason it doesn’t attach in the blog comments. Can you send it to my email please. Best to you too. Hope your family is well.

Looks like you have everything you need for spring cleaning…but sketching does come first!

    • That’s for sure. Yes, I think I have too much for spring cleaning. You know how it goes, some things get moved to the back of the cabinet and then you buy more, not realizing that you already have them.

I like your priorities, Shari! The opportunity to clean is always there, but the opportunity to sketch disappears if not taken. Thank you for the wonderful online course! I like it even more than I like your classes on Craftsy/Bluprint. Great job filming the palette and the page! I appreciated being able to see your process from beginning to end. I felt like I had the front row vantage point at a workshop! Thank you ! Thank you!

    • Thanks so much Laurel. I really, really appreciate the great feedback. We worked really hard on making sure I showed the whole process. And it makes me so happy to hear that you felt like you were at a workshop. That is exactly what I wanted to simulate.

Sketching is important… I start my day with a quick sketch before getting dressed. Love your new online course. I watched it all yesterday; today I’ll get to work on it.

    • I do that too Helen. Sometimes I draw on my iPad while I am having my second cup of coffee at breakfast. Great way to start the day. And so glad to hear that you like the new class. It makes me so happy to hear that!
