White birch

As predicted, it was a rainy day in Charlevoix, but that gave me time to drive around and scope out painting locations for when the weather improves. We made it all the way to where the Saguenay and the St. Lawrence Rivers meet, and when the fog lifted, we were rewarded with sightings of belugas in the distance. When we returned, it was dry enough to sit on the porch and sketch the white birch.

I love your painting and live white birch trees. I recently wrote about my memories of them as a child.

  8. You drove right past our driveway today. No matter what the weather, there are things of beauty at every turn. I have spent every summer or part of every summer here for my entire life. Certainly hope the sun shines on you this week. Port au Persil, and Cap à l’Aigle among my fave locations to paint. There are also lovely street scenes in Pointe au Pic.

Have been taking your couses since Craftsy classes.

I hope there will be a time when you can have a wate colour plein air class in Charlevoix

    • Wow, that is so cool to find that out. Well then, you may see me painting here and there this week, and you should certainly come by to say hello. There are so many amazing things to sketch here!! I need a month to do it justice. As for teaching here, I would love to do that someday! If you have an art group that is interested you can always let me know. I’d come back in a minute! Shari

Hope you remembered your DEET! No one warned us when we went to ‘rivers meet’ and the mossies thought Christmas had come early!

    Hi Shari
Great painting despite the conditions 🙂

Papeterie Saint-Gilles in Saint-Joseph de la Rive (not too far from Baie Saint-Paul) might be a good place to visit if it continues to rain.

  13. Nice birch trees. Charlevoix is a beautiful region. I went on the whale watching tour in Baie St Cathrine in 2015.
