Port-au-Persil

Years ago I sat on the rocks at Port-au-Persil and painted the chapel in the distance. I had hoped to do the same today, but as soon as we parked, the first drops fell and from there it was rain for the rest of the day. But I’m an old pro at car sketching, and that works here too, if you can find a good viewpoint, which I did.

    • Hi Margaret. I am in Charlevoix, Quebec. It’s east of Quebec City, and it’s truly a stunning place. This morning I found the perfect place to give a workshop, right next to the maritime museum and across the street from a place when they make handmade paper. Doesn’t that sound great? Hope you’re well.

    • HI Jeff, I am having a wonderful getaway. It is such a special place because the maritime scenes are gorgeous, as are the landscapes. It’s the best of both worlds for a painter. Hope all is well with you guys too.

I love the rocks too. Doesn’t seem to be much brushwork involved to make those rocks. A beautiful painting.

What a pretty spot. The feeling of the wet day comes across beautifully.

  11. I feel much at peace as I gaze into this painting . . . the serene setting with the waterfront, colorful vegetation, and the simple white chapel.

This looks like a wonderful spot to paint even if you have to do it from the dry front seat of your car. Lovely sketch of the rocks and the chapel. This reminds me of the coast of Maine.
