Wires crossed
Posted: February 9, 2012 Filed under: Uncategorized 5 CommentsThe messy stuff is so much more attractive than the pretty stuff. I’d much rather sketch this tangled mess of wires than a vase of flowers or a tidy cottage. There’s not much interest in that.
The building on the left is Gigi’s Pizzeria, or rather the roof of Gigi’s. And wouldn’t you know it? As soon as I started to paint, a big truck pulled up in front of me, blocked my view and started unloading mozzarella cheese and pepperoni.

You keep finding these great little “mundane” subjects (please read that as a compliment). Do you spend your spare time these days cruising the back streets of the seedy parts of Montreal?
This was actually in a nice part of town, just in the back of some stores. No seedy areas in my neighbourhood.
An excellent composition and rhythm in those wires, well spotted.
I have’nt had the pleasure of patronizing Gigi’s pizza, but think that the truck blocking the lower part of the building was a ‘happy accident’. This is an interesting urban roofscape.
I like the urban roofscapes. Makes me think of Edward Hopper, one of my favorites.
