Power house

A great advantage to painting later in the day is that there’s more parking. This little power plant building, part of McGill’s Macdonald College, has no parking nearby, unless you are going to the Dental Technology building. I didn’t need any dental work but after 5 p.m. there are no roaming campus security guards checking the parking lots. I set up just in time for the afternoon shadows on the red brick and the red tile.

There’s a great feeling of depth and modelling in this one… the shadowing on the built form is very convincing… very “solid”. And nice to see an all watercolor painting again after a long stint with the pen and wash, although I like those too.
I can’t tell… is this the large or small Moleskine?

    • This is the large Moleskine. It was great to go back to just watercolour again after a long time with the pen. It is so easy to rely on those little black outlines to define everything. Doing this is much harder, especially with building or other very solid objects. This also takes more time…

And, surely you didn’t think you were going to get away with today’s commentary that easily from me! It is good to see that you are finally admitting that you are parking illegally!
No more of that “I think I am starting to develop a bad reputation for parking and I don’t know why” or the “Ok, ok! I ONCE parked illegally. But that was the only time” …I don’t think people believed you anyway. At least you are clear now about your MCCP (ie moral code of car parking), which I think I can paraphrase as “I can park anywhere I want as long as I can avoid getting caught!”

      • Ok, I give up.
