I arrived early at the Gare de l’est on my way to Strasbourg and found a table in a cafe facing the tracks. It cost me a couple of euros for the coffee I needed to allow me that seat with a view but it was worth it because I checked that sketch off my list.

I do love the train stations also. They are the subject of several favourite photos. You have really captured the din of the interior. (hope that was intentional 🙂 I trust you continue to enjoy your journey. I’m enjoying all the posts.
Thanks Alison. The rest of the journey had been wonderful and I’m looking forward to doing some sketches of Strasbourg.
Nice sketch… just the way I recall railway stations in Paris… except that I seem to remember a lot more people?
The people were having coffee with me.
Must have been very crowded at your table… particularly when you spread out your watercolour gear.
Nice atmosphere – I can almost hear the echoey announcements.
I love the old European train stations like this. They are grand dames in the transportation world.
