Shadows on the roof

Great shadows on the roof of the Pointe Claire Yacht Club today…sailboats going in and out…people gathering for lunch on the deck…the flags snapping in the wind. A fine scene to sketch.

Great vantage point. What colours are in your roof shadows?

  2. Joanne says:

    Shari,
The scene brings back many memories of my youth. I knew immediatly where the sketch was. The reflections in the water were great.
    Thanks. I loved it.

Hi Shari, i’m back in Toronto with grand daughter Julia (14) and thoroughly enjoyed looking at all your watercolour sketches together…a real education! She loved your cast shadows here and
dock reflections in the water along with the addition of fine liner pen.
Then we tried some sketches from observation…not so easy but will take practice 🙂

    • It’s great to hear from you and Julia and I’m glad that you’re both sketching together. Yes, it takes practice. That’s why I try to do some drawing every day. It really helps you get better.

I love it Shari, your colours are fabulous and it is true that there is something that reminds me of my youth too… maybe that it is the quality of the colours. Note sure 😉

  6. Regarding your Pointe-Claire Yacht Club scene.
I’m amazed how you get so much detail with so few strokes.
    I like all your drawings.
How about another sketch day together? Anywhere you choose.

    • Helmut, when this praise comes from you I am honoured. I would love to sketch with you again. This time you get to pick the venue. It doesn’t have to be urban. How about a little election day sketching? As you might see from my post, school has started again. I will message you on FB.
