Black boots and upcoming events
Posted: January 16, 2013 Filed under: Uncategorized 14 CommentsThese boots are made for walking and I am going to wear them to the 38th Sketchcrawl this Saturday. If you don’t know about this event, it is a gigantic drawing marathon that takes place four times a year, in many cities around the world.
The Montreal event takes place this Saturday, January 19, at the Atrium of 1000 de la Gauchetière. It’s the perfect venue for sketching in our city in the winter (and it’s going to be pretty cold this weekend!) because there’s an indoor skating rink, a food court, bathrooms and an underground connection to Central Station, Windsor Station or Place Bonaventure if you prefer. We will meet around 9:30 and we are hoping for lots of sketchers.
Next Sunday, January 27, is the first 2013 meeting of Urban Sketchers Montreal and again it will be an indoor venue. We are meeting at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts at 10:00 am. Admission is free if you are visiting the permanent collection and my research shows that you can only draw in pencil although it’s up to you if you want to take your chances with water media. I don’t think you can bring knapsacks into the museum so travel light. Hope to see you there!

Ahhhh. Wish I was there Shari. We are doing our own sketch crawl this Saturday in a place called The Villages, a sort of Disneyland for seniors. Seriously, it is an over-55 development with about 60,000 folks – so large that the place has three “Town Centers,” with music for dancing every night of the week. Old people gettin’ decadent.
I can’t wait to see what you do Lee. I guess “The Villages” is a bit like Century Village in South Florida, right? At least you guys can be outside. I will watch for your sketches on Flickr.
My boots aren’t a pretty as these. But they will be sketching too. See you there!
See you Saturday Jen!
Have fun! I wish I was there!!!

Thanks! I hope you have a Sketchcrawl where you are.
These boots sure look like they have lots of character and history Shari, and i can almost hear them dancing to Nancy Sinatra as you’re sketching this weekend!
It was super meeting you last night at your guest artist’s talk and to see all your Moleskin
sketchbooks filled with your beautiful drawings, many of which were featured in your daily blog.
What blew my mind was how superior your painting was in real life compared to the images we see on line and those images are impressive in themselves. However the real life paintings
reveal a fresh breadth and depth of colour and all the other art elements that a computer pic just can’t reproduce or equal. So hopefully all your followers will have the enjoyment of seeing your vibrant work on display at your next show 🙂
Mary, it was so great to meet you after all our months of correspondance on the blog. I really felt like I had a friend in the audience. Also glad to hear that you liked the real work too. It’s true, as hard I try to scan accurately, the on-screen version still cannot replicate the real thing. I hope to see you at one of our Urban Sketchers outings one of these days!
I am going to the Sketchcrawl Shari :: can’t wait as I feel that I am in a bit of a creative low at the moment, and painting with other people will surely help!
I will see you there Jane. I think some urban scenes will be good for you. You’ve done lots of rural buildings so this will be a good change for sure!
Good luck with the sketch crawl.
Have you made that appointment with the podiatrist yet? : )
I will make that appt. after the sketchcrawl in case there is any surgery required.
Hopefully the problem can be corrected… and then you won’t need to always buy two left boots. : )
And then my dancing as well as my painting are sure to improve.
