First workshop of the season!
Posted: March 2, 2013 Filed under: Uncategorized 14 CommentsToday is my 500th blog post (and sketch) so it seems fitting to announce my first watercolour workshop for 2013, which will be in Kamouraska, Quebec, from June 3-6, 2013.
Situated on the south shore of the St. Lawrence river, about two hours’ drive north of Quebec City, the village of Kamouraska is one of the most beautiful — and therefore paintworthy — sites in Quebec. Its breathtaking maritime scenery, history and charm were captured in Anne Hebert’s novel, Kamouraska, which Claude Jutra also made into a movie starring Geneviève Bujold. It’s also been a magnet for generations of Canadian and American artists, who have been drawn to its rough, unpolished beauty.
The workshop will consist of four days of instruction, painting, critiques and fellowship. If you think this might interest you or if you want to find out more about the workshop, the place, or how to register, have a look at my updated summer workshops page.
In the coming weeks I will be announcing dates for more workshops, including some in Montreal. It’s going to be a busy summer!

Congrats on 500 posts! Hope your workshops draw many!
Congratulations on your 500th post — wow! You are a dedicated and perseverant person Shari — but you can surely see how your art has deepened and become very artistic? If you haven’t… well I’m tellin’ ya 😉 Very happy for you Shari — and I will be at your workshop — yeah!
Thanks Jane. Any workshop wouldn’t be the same without you!
I envy anyone who lives near you and who will be attending you of your workshops. Their lives will be changed – guaranteed!
Lee, you are exaggerating. But I think they will have a good time, at the very least.
Shari,
This is so great! I won’t be in QC this summer, or I would absolutely sign up. However, I’m wondering what it would take to organize a workshop with you (and Marc?) for Quebec City in early autumn. If you are at all interested, perhaps we could discuss logistics by email.
I would love to come to Quebec City. I’ll talk to Marc about it and we’ll see what we can do. Yes, let’s have a conversation by email.
Okay, great! Maybe you and Marc can discuss a few options, and then follow up with me by email. Drawing on location (outdoors) would be ideal, obviously. However, depending on the weather, we also can plan on some indoor spaces that would be great. Just keep me posted. 🙂
500! I’ve been enjoying all of the posts here; I used to be a watercolorist, and I always love to see well-done watercolor sketches like the ones you create. If I wasn’t one country and many hundreds of mile south, I would love to come up north and sketch in a place like Kamouraska!
Maybe one of these days I will make it to Washington for a workshop. Always wanted to visit and it is high on my list.
I would also be interested in a workshop in Quebec City in the fall! Love your work!
I will add you to the list for Quebec Ashley!
Will you also be having a workshop in Montreal this summer?
I should be having several Ashley. I will be posting them soon.
