End of day
Posted: September 24, 2013 Filed under: Uncategorized 15 CommentsI am not going to complain about this run of perfect fall weather, but it’s just a little too pretty out there during the day to sketch. Today I waited until the light was more dramatic to catch the after-work crowd walking their dogs, taking their kids to the park for a bit of pre-dinner exercise or just having a long look at the boats on the lake.

I like this very much! Love the use of darks.

Great to hear from you Christine!
Love the way you captured the light. Truly feels like a sunny Fall day. Will you share your grass green and what you used for the shadows?
The grass green is aureolin and ultramarine but more yellow than blue.
The shadow is the same mix but more blue with some Prussian blue added in.
This is stunning! The contrast between the vertical lines of the trees and the horizontal shadows, and the horizontal line of the lake, is wonderful.
A big thank you Fiona.
My, my. You have really captured this special time of day. I noticed these same shadows as I bicycled along the lakeshore today. Beautiful!
I probably should have been cycling instead of sketching Alison.
So pretty, the shadows are really goodxx
thanks Joanna.
Nice light! love the subtle yellows!
Thanks so much Hugo.
I love the graphic quality. The trees are very well done.
Thanks Rene. I love drawing trees…
I was just going through your work and this painting just made me stop and admire it…beautiful..and so very aptly named.
