Greenhouse greens
Posted: January 25, 2015 Filed under: Uncategorized 12 CommentsThere was a crowd at Sunday sketching with USk Montreal today, possibly the biggest ever (I think I say that every month so I guess we must be growing.) It’s hard to refuse the offer to sketch in a humid greenhouse on a brutally cold day. Sunlit, filled with tropical vegetation, fragrant with the scent of exotic flowers… it was like a mini-vacation in our own city. I sketched a row of pots near the window, and drew most of it with a contour pencil line, paying careful attention to the negative shapes of the leaves and then trying to vary the greens from warm to cool and blue to yellow in the vegetation.

I love it Shari! Delightful, dancing shapes and colour and even more joy with all this sunshine:)
Thanks Mary. It was a delightful place to spend a few hours.
Love your greenhouse plants, Shari.
Thanks Lee.
Love it~! Great detail and sunny composition. A nice reminder of the warm weather to come while I wait out the snow. Enjoy your day~!
Rhonda, January has been so cold. I can’t wait for the warmth to return. Or at least to see the thermometer move out of the double digit negatives.
So beautiful!
Thanks!
Lovely sketch.
Thanks so much.
That is clever… all those greens. It is easy to forget just how many natural greens there are in foliage. Well done.
Thanks Ross.
