Sultan Mosque
Posted: July 21, 2015 Filed under: Uncategorized 18 CommentsI haven’t seen all of Singapore but Kampong Glam is still a favourite area for sketching because the streets are shaded and quiet, at least in the morning. There was too much to try to fit on the page in this one. The golden dome of the mosque, the row of palms, the minarets, the shophouses that line the street… can you believe this is Singapore? Every day more sketchers arrive from around the world to attend the Symposium that starts tomorrow. I’m trying to enjoy the sights now because the next four days will be chaotic. Teaching, taking workshops, attending lectures — it’s information overload for the sketcher and I’m still pinching myself that I’m here.

Love the palm trees… anyone would think you had been drawing palms for all of your life. And I like the way they break the picture plane… great feeling of depth.
Thanks Ross.
This is absolutely gorgeous Shari! So vibrant!
Thanks Wendy!
Shari, your sketch is amazing. Have a great time at the symposium.
Thanks Nathaluie!
Thank you for a window into the experience over there. It’s great for those of us who can’t make it. Parka’s videos are fun to watch, too. The Craftsy class really contributes to understanding the new paintings and the process behind them.
There’s really too much going on to properly describe but I’m glad Parka is posting things too. When I get back home I’ll be able to post more.
So glad you are following it this way.
Shari, the white of the mosque really looks like in full light, si inspiring.
It was in cloudy until about half way through the sketch. Then the sun came out!
Beautifully done! Wish I were going to the symposium!
Thanks!
Thanks so much for taking the time to share your sketches with us. I really look forward to seeing them.
Thanks for letting me know Rachel!
Hi Shari, My husband Joe recognized the mosque and neighborhood! He says the best part of town, except for the docks. We are enjoying your posts. Thanks for including us in this sketching adventure! Best, Mary of Bay View/Anacortes
