Central Park
Posted: April 9, 2017 Filed under: Uncategorized 12 CommentsIt’s probably the warmest spring day so far in New York City which means it’s warm enough to draw outside! I’ve never sketched in Central Park before but I didn’t have to go far to find a bench with a view. The trees aren’t budding yet but the daffodils are blooming and tulips aren’t far behind. If you can imagine a soundtrack for this it would a Russian man in a Red Army cap playing an accordion. Facing him is a man painted silver with a live dove, motionless, on his head and a cat wrapped in foil sitting at his feet while he blows up balloon animals. New York!
Gee what a neat way to bring us right into the park with you by photographing your work on location. I enjoyed both your painted and your written sketch.Yes, New York indeed.

And what a day it was in the park Holly. I think all of New York was out, including dogs AND cats.

Thanks for writing Bernadette. It was a great visit to New York. Not that much time for sketching but time enough for one.

When it’s sunny and warm it’s the best because it’s a city that is meant to be wandered in. But it was cold when we arrived on Friday, and cold on Saturday too. So sitting outside on Sunday was a real treat.

I guess I do. I love travelling so I try to get away whenever I can. It sure is warm in Montreal too and I actually see daffodils coming out of the ground. Very exciting.

Just a thought ….. being NYC maybe the silver balloon man went home and blogged about someone he saw sketching in the park without so much as a live dove on their head or a tinfoil wrapped cat for company? 🙂

I bet he did. Or at least he tweeted about it. Or maybe his bird tweeted about it.

Hope you are enjoying your visit. I love the strength of the tree you chose to sketch and the background. I visited the AWS show yesterday and saw your painting. You were in good company. Congrats!!!
