Without my pencil
Posted: January 7, 2013 Filed under: Uncategorized 8 Comments »Today’s painting is very direct — no pen or pencil lines first. It’s something I try every so often but it is not always successful. It’s way too cold to sit in my car today but there is a fresh layer of snow and with the sun shining the view from my window seems fine. I remembered painting this same evergreen last year on a very snowy day (you’ll notice the more muted colours) and when I went back to check the date I realized that it was almost exactly a year ago. I guess I need to find some new material.

Why would you criticize your choice of subject, especially on a cold, COLD, Quebec day?
I appreciate the irony of having chosen the same tree a year later but really, it is most impressive that you are able to complete an outdoor painting, even if you do have to look out the window.
By the way, I have just returned from the park, sitting on a bench facing the lake (in Florida) and it is windy as heck and cold so I sort of scribbled with my pen and my brushes and got out of there after snapping a bunch of pictures to use indoors.
Even if it is windy, at least you are in Florida. I would love to feel a little bit of sun right about now.
It’s a beautiful painting. No matter what
Thanks!!
Fantastic how you let the white parts speak. A few dark spots and there is the 3rd dimension.
It’s true about the darks René. If you don’t put them in the painting is so flats. It’s amazing how they add that depth.
I like it!!!
Thanks!!
