Where did she go?

I found a new place where people (including me) sit still for a very long time — the beach! This is the first time I post a series of drawings. This lady was sitting right in front of me so I drew her once when she arrived in the morning (she still had her coffee), then she disappeared for a very long time (it was a bit worrisome!) so I drew her chair and bag, and finally when she returned from her walk (??) and turned her chair to face the sun. The first drawing is done with my Muji B pencil, the second is with my Lamy Safari pen and wash and the last one (my favorite) is with a Micron pen and wash.

Wonderful story and sketches Shari! I really love how you tell stories…

    • Thanks Miriam. There are not always stories to tell but this lady really did disappear for such a long time that I began to wonder… Hope all is well in Munich. When are you leaving for Chicago?

      • Miriam says:

Hi Shari 🙂 all is well, thanks! I am leaving for NY first on July 31st, then on Sunday 5th I’ll go to Chicago. Could you remind me the name of that 6 flours place to buy art material in New York? I think you mentioned that in Paris. Thanks!

      • That great store is Pearl Paint. It’s on Canal Street right at the edge of Soho. Have a great trip Miriam.

Gorgeous little series… each with it’s own character. And great to find a cooperative model.
I think that this counts as 1½ towards the “more people” challenge… you only get a ½ for an arm-leg sketch and you can’t really count anything for a painting of a chair where a person had been sitting.

    • Wow, you are tough on me. I post three sketches instead of one and still get criticism. And I think this counts as two “people sketches” since there’s a bit more than an arm and a leg in there.

This is a delightful ‘story’…charming studies really.
Thankyou for all your posts, Shari…….from one of your many
        followers in Australia.

      • Thanks for commenting Ethna. It’s always nice to hear from the followers in Australia!

    • Ross C says:

OK, I can accept that today can count as two people sketches… I may have been a bit “tough” on you there.
But “criticism”???? I have checked my Australian-Canadian dictionary but can’t find where “Gorgeous little series… each with it’s own character” qualifies as criticism… I think maybe that was a typo by you when you meant to type “compliments”… just as you included a typo in your response to Miriam above… you really should be more careful typing your responses.
And it is good to know that “It’s always nice to hear from the followers in Australia!” : )

      • Thank you for the compliments Ross!

      • Ethna says:

Oops!……Ross….can’t resist pulling you up on your own typo………'(it’s) own character’ : )

      • Ross C says:

Ethna, you are so right… how could I do that! But, why does the English language have to be so irrational? Logically, “it’s” should be the possessive form of “it”, don’t you think?
Anyway, Ethna, I am afraid that you may be missing the whole point of this game… which is that you are supposed to be giving Shari a hard time, not other grammatically-deprived commenters. She gets so many glowing, encouraging, helpful, sensitive (not to mention sweet and nice) comments on her blog and Flickr these days… someone has to give some balance.
But even more importantly, were you watching State of Origin last night? Are you lucky enough to be a banana-bender, like me? : )

      • I will let you Aussies fight it out.
