I drew this a few weeks ago in my Laloran sketch book. I have lots of sketch books piled up on my desk but none have paper as beautiful as this.
What kind of paper is this Shari, and how do you find it so beautiful?
Is your Laloran sketch book from the States also?
This isn’t a criticism but what is the inverted triangular gizmo in the foreground which has me baffled.
That is a pile of napkins folded in a napkin holder, Mary.
I don’t know what kind of paper it is in the book and I believe it comes from Portugal. All symposium participants received these in Santo Domingo. Why do I love the paper? It is cream coloured, thick, slightly pebbled, and it takes the pen so beautifully.
Let me guess… is the “inverted triangular gizmo” the folded end of the napkin, in the napkin holder which has the unusual patterns on the sides? I am guessing that the three empty wine bottles may be behind our difficulty in deciphering parts of this sketch. Could that be right? : )
Oops… your reply appeared after I posted mine.
Those are full wine bottles and this was done in the morning while I was having my coffee… I guess the difficulty in deciphering is simply my poor drawing skills.
Of course you were having coffee, Shari… that’s why I can clearly see coffee cups, sugar and milk/cream on the table. Or do you drink coffee out of wine bottles in Canada?
And, no, the fishing for compliments won’t work with me today… I did that three days ago.
Dear Shari-such beautiful sketches-can you please tell me what type of pen you like to sketch with the best, and what type of paper is this that you mentioned, can I get these articles ar Omer de Serres or at Michael’s-thank you, Gail Katz Date: Sun, 30 Sep 2012 02:35:24 +0000 To: gailmossekatz@hotmail.com
Gail, I sketch with a Micron 005. You can get this at de Serres. The pad, unfortunately, is not available in Montreal.
Gail asked the questions that were in my mind. Shari – can you think of another paper available ad De Serres that would be comparable? I am always on the search as well for paper that will work well with pencil crayons especially brands like Derwent and Staedtler
Here is the link to Laloran so you can see the paper.

It is a Clairefontaine Dessin paper but I have never seen this here in a book.
