Midsummer
Posted: August 10, 2013 Filed under: Uncategorized 13 CommentsDespite all the neglect my garden has suffered because of my travels this summer, I still managed to cobble together a bouquet that looked good enough to sketch. I used all the rarely touched colours in the center of my travel palette: permanent magenta, mauve, and cobalt violet.

Your colours are gorgeous in this painting. Did you do the pen sketch first and then the washes etc.? Or did you put the pen in after.
Hi Valerie.
I usually do the pen work first. If not then I just end up outlining my washes and it looks very stiff, which is the last thing you want with flowers.
Really loved this one. My favourite garden colours and style. Thank you…D
Sent from my iPad 😉
Thanks Darlene!
Perm. magenta, cob. violet and … I’m getting those colors and just maybe, maybe I’ll be able to paint such gorgeous fresh flowers…:) They are really fresh, light and dancing on the paper!
I know you like dancing colours Carola! Thanks!
Love the painting Shari but can’t understand how you got the yellow and greens using reds and purples
I also used my regular yellows and blues but added a few new pigments. Sorry, I should have mentioned that!
lovely. brought back my mother.
Thanks for visiting!
Wow! What a wonderful bunch of flowers! Now I have the urge of painting flowers 🙂
Thanks Cristina. When I can’t go far to sketch or the day is grey, flowers always work!
very pretty!
