Time stopped
Posted: August 27, 2013 Filed under: Uncategorized 13 CommentsI remember reading last year that after over 150 years in service, Canada Post had closed the post office in Pointe Claire Village. There was much protest and a round of petitions from area residents, as well as nods of approval from others who felt that it was underused and people were better served at the postal counter of the local drug store. But it’s still sad, isn’t it, to see this abandoned building with its clock stopped exactly at noon, its droopy, neglected flag and an “À louer” sign in the window.

Same as the post office on Sherbrooke and Prince Albert in Westmount which was used a great deal. Carol Koffler

I didn’t know about that one Carol. So sad to see these go.
Good sketch with a nicely captured subject. Such a shame to see a neglected old building like this… the feeling of neglect is heightened by the poor abandoned car with the wheel falling off. : )
Those type of cars seem to follow me around.
LOL. Yes, I have noticed that.
Forgot to mention that I like the elevational (not sure if that is even a word) treatment of this subject… I think it appeals to my architectural sensibilities.
Your sketch is wonderful….I have been in the building countless times over many years.
You probably know that the old post office in Ste. Anne de Bellevue has closed as well.
We are losing so many of these old landmarks, and so we await to see what will be done
with them. Changing times indeed !!!
Another one! I hadn’t heard about that one either. Canada Post is on the edge of disaster, I think.
A beautiful homage to a poor neglected building.
Thanks!
Sad to see quaint empty old buildings not being used..
Yes, so sad.
What kind of pen (brand) do you use in your drawings? Do they only come in black or gray.
I use a Micron 005. It’s a really fine pen and although I only use black I think it comes in different colours.
