Decay
Posted: September 29, 2013 Filed under: Uncategorized 12 CommentsAlthough most everything in my garden is finished by now, the black-eyed Susans near my front door cling to summer. I pass them on my way in and out, and today I took a few minutes to capture their fading beauty.
Sad looking flowers but beautifully captured. I love the ink drawing, particularly those leaves in the foreground… and also the way you haven’t painted “between the lines”… it adds a freshness and energy to the subject. Was that intentional, or are you just having trouble staying between the lines in the limited time you allow for sketching? : )

Thanks Ross. It’s true that I don’t have as much time to sketch as I do in the summer but that was intentional.

Thanks. The greens are just different layers of the same green in increasingly dark intensities.

Of course you are not the only one. I mess up plenty of sketches, but I just don’t post them.
