Decay

Although most everything in my garden is finished by now, the black-eyed Susans near my front door cling to summer. I pass them on my way in and out, and today I took a few minutes to capture their fading beauty.

Sad looking flowers but beautifully captured. I love the ink drawing, particularly those leaves in the foreground… and also the way you haven’t painted “between the lines”… it adds a freshness and energy to the subject. Was that intentional, or are you just having trouble staying between the lines in the limited time you allow for sketching? : )
