Fritz Farm
Posted: April 13, 2014 Filed under: Uncategorized 7 CommentsMy intent was to take some photos at the opening of the LAA group show on Friday night but it was pretty busy and I never got around to it. Instead I did a sketch of the venue today. Fritz Farm is a great old house, built in 1910, and perfect for the exhibition. As I was sketching it, it occurred to me that this was the first time in five months that I’ve painted bare ground. Except for a few patches in shady spots, the snow is mostly gone, and with a weather forecast of 24°C tomorrow, that might be it until next year.

Shari, I love how you paint snow ( you have inspired me to try it as a subject matter given the beauty you create painting it!) but I celebrate with you that you get a break from that for a while now.
Inspiring and lovely painting. So glad you shared it. How exciting to be able to finally get the opportunity sketch and paint the lovely colors of spring. I hope that the snow and cold weather has gone for those of you who live east of the Rockies….It has been extremely harsh winter for all.
I love the contrast of the large expanse of grass in the bottom half of the picture and the complex line work at the top.

Your sketch of Fritz Farm is such a familiar site to me. I have been there on so many occasions…weddings, receptions and many art exhibitions. It is a landmark for West Islanders, and you captured it beautifully ! I enjoyed speaking with you yesterday.
The weather surely does feel like spring at last, and a great time to get back to the greens and all the seasonal colours which will be popping up everywhere !
