Sometimes I take a lot of time to complete a painting (or ruin several before I post anything!) and other days I just spend a few minutes doing something quick, like a pencil sketch of my dog. There are also days when I stop what I am doing for a time (like garden cleanup today) and draw my activity. What’s important for me is that I draw everyday. In a great online interview with my friend Marc Holmes he says basically the same thing. He keeps a sketchbook in his bag and draws wherever he is. I guess for both of us the advice is the same. Just get out there and draw!

I love to see your daily work!

Thanks!
Absolutely the best advice ever, Shari. For this fellow, it is my one chance meditation every day.
I was just thinking that I should have written that drawing is so much like meditation. You beat me to it Lee!
better than vitamins! or perhaps the vitamin for self expression… one a day minimum.
Absolutely better than vitamins!
On average, how much time do you think you spend sketching each day?
Sometimes I spend 15 minutes but most often the average is around 45-60 minutes each day. I do occasionally miss a day when I am really busy.
you are an amazing person….very inspiring 😉 !!!
The best advice to give Shari… 🙂

thanks Kristiina.
Shari, thank you for discussing the idea of frequent sketching. It helps a lot to be reminded to just do it.
Thanks Les.
Beautiful work! Thanks for linking to my interview with Marc. Perhaps we shall cross paths this summer!
