Catching up with my favourite tree
Posted: October 30, 2015 Filed under: Uncategorized 27 CommentsIt seems that I’ve missed all of the fall foliage. I’m just back from Denver (working on another online course for Craftsy.com) and while I was away most of the trees in Montreal lost their leaves. All except the big sugar maples, and included in that group is my favourite tree. It lives on a street not too far from my home and every year, because of its distance from power lines, it manages to stay out of the way of chain saws and retain its near-perfect dome shape.
Preparation for my new online class has taken up most of my spare time for the past few months but I’m happy to be back and hopefully will be posting more regularly now. Just in time for the last of the leaves and the start of snow painting season.

Golden splendor! I love Montreal …especially pretty in Autumn. Beautiful painting Shari!
Thanks. I love Montreal in the autumn too. Glad I could catch a little bit of it.
Hi Shari, I know you like sketching in Lachine…I took this photo yesterday moving before the Winds arrived… It was taken at Rene Levesque Park…
What can you do with this Photo?

Hi Alan, I bet it was beautiful in the park but I can’t see this photo. Do you have a link you could send me?
I have several of these trees in my yard in Lewisburg, TN….you did such a beautiful job of it….enjoy your blog, and classes, very much….cj
Lucky you Carolyn. Are they yellow right now in Lewisburg? Thanks for writing!
All on the ground now….so beautiful while it lasted….got to mulch now….cj
Really nice job on the tree. ‘Bursting’ with life and colour!
Bursting is a good way to describe it Kevin. It is a yellow explosion.
Beautiful! The trees have been so gorgeous this fall.
Welcome back!
Thanks Bev. They’ve been beautiful and I’ve missed them all, well almost all.
Good to see you and the tree are both back! Hope the filming went well – looking forward to signing up in due course.
Thanks Tony. Yes, we are both really happy to be back.
Beautiful! I love the full, lush yellow colors!
Thanks Joan.
And you do snow best of anyone else I know! So if you’re ok….I’m ok!
I’m ok Dee!
I love seeing the latest painting of this tree each fall!
Thanks Vicky. I couldn’t let the leaves fall without painting it once.
I have to say, fall foliage is really a watercolor challenge.
Maybe Montreal got remnants of the hurricane rain, like we did, this week.
Yes, fall foliage is really a challenge. Montreal did get remnants of the hurricane. The rain was really bad on Wednesday and it was very windy on Thursday when I landed from Denver.
What can you tell me about the new craftsy course?
Hi Larry. I can’t really tell you much but it shouldn’t be too long before it comes out. The only thing I can say is that I’m very excited about it and that I worked really hard on it. And I can’t wait to be able to tell you more.
stunning tree!
Shari- Is your next class for Craftsy? I loved your last one! When
will it be available? Thanks, Sheila
Hi Sheila, Yes, the new class is for Craftsy. I am not certain when it will come out but it will likely be before the end of the year. So glad you liked the last one.
hope your new class would include the examples of your Rockport painting – it was so pleasant to see a shop window with your art there when i visited about a month ago – your style is so unique, i recognized your work right away!
