Aviation museum
Posted: January 3, 2016 Filed under: Uncategorized 11 CommentsThere’s more to this building than meets the eye. It houses the Canadian Aviation Heritage Centre, but from the outside you might not know the treasures that are displayed inside. “The Old Stone Barn” is part of MacDonald Farm and I’ve painted it many times, from many different angles. As often happens, I’m never there at the right time to visit the Centre, but it sounds intriguing (art gallery, memorabilia, artifacts of both civil and military aircraft). I had originally hoped to paint a watercolour on site today but the snow was coming down heavily and with no plows in sight I feared getting stranded on the farm, so I sketched instead.
Gorgeous!

Great job on the building!!! Looks like the snow will make it difficult to get there soon.

Shari, I had a chance to see the museum this past fall and will let you know it is well worth the effort to see. Some of the watercolours were really good,

I love the last two paintings of stone buildings. I’d be really interested to know the colours you use in them please. Your course on Urban Sketching is waiting for me to begin on Craftsy.

I agree with Wendy. Your stone buildings are just a joy to look at. The colors, shadows…. Another winner, Shari!

I love the contrast between the colour and texture of the Old Barn and the snowy slope in front. I read all your blogs Shari and make notes from many of them AND I am now sketching every day. Thank you for sharing your gifts. You are a wonderful teacher.

Hi Marion.
Thanks so much for writing. I can’t believe how much my life has been enriched as well, both by doing my own artwork and my communicating with so many people through the blog. I’m glad there’s some content that motivates you too.
Regards,
Shari
