The town
Posted: August 20, 2016 Filed under: Uncategorized 27 CommentsJust getting round to scanning some of my summer paintings as I prepare for “Art by the Lake”, the outdoor show of the Lakeshore Association of Artists that will take place on September 10 & 11. I painted this in June in Rockport, MA, but with travelling, workshops and family stuff, I haven’t had much time to sit at my scanner.
I love this view of Rockport from Old Harbor Road. You can sit out on a pier and look back at the town that, from that angle, almost seems to be stacked on top of rocks and ladders. Painted on Saunders Waterford CP paper, 15″ x 11″.

Wonderful !
Many thanks Nicolas!
lovely maritime scene. I am fascinated by colour mixes for rocks and stones and have just found the book by Sharon Finmark at the library– what a treasure. i also just download the second of your Craftsy courses. Yipee! but where to start! Thanks for posting this one Shari
Barb

Lovely.
Thanks!
Shari,
Proving once again you are the master of beautiful & multi varied grays – not omitting wonderful composition
Sending happy thoughts as well
Soni
Thanks Soni. It’s been a colourful summer (lots of greens in Ireland and all that red brick in Manchester) so looking back, I think this was one of my only grey scenes.
Wonderful!!
Thanks Nadia.
Love them all, thanks for sharing these beauties while traveling, teaching, painting and holding up the fort. Wishing all goes well for you and your family
Thanks so much Elaine. Hope to see you soon.
Beautiful harmonious colors. And a very compelling composition and as Soni (above) said, beautiful grays. Striking, as always!
Thanks so much Jeff. It was a composition that I really enjoyed drawing. When I’m in Rockport I have the luxury of time which makes it a pleasure to pick challenging scenes. Hope all is well with you.
Shari, this is just gorgeous. In a month husband and I are going to Rockport, Maine and other coastal places. I hope to get a lot of sketching in. You are so inspiring.
Judy, I hope you have a wonderful time in one of my very favourite places.
This piece is so impressive– as are all of your pieces! This type of scene is really complicated and you’ve managed to simplify it, capture the light, and convey the feel of this coastal town. Beautiful!
Thanks so much Jean. It’s the kind of scene I really love tackling, when I have the time.
Great art
thanks Fred!
Always beyond amazing:)
