Cat and dog
Posted: April 29, 2024 Filed under: Uncategorized 16 CommentsI don’t have many opportunities to draw cats, but on the weekend we visited our son who has a roommate with a cat named Indigo. Indigo is a very friendly white cat, but he’s young and he’s curious around new people, so he spent a fair bit of time leaping around us, from sofa to windowsill to tabletop. When he finally tired himself out, I was able to draw him in his favourite spot on the back of the couch. The line through his head is the start of a previous drawing, but guess what? He got up and moved, so I had to start again.

I’ve been away a fair bit lately, and Alice has been with the dog sitter for a good part of April. She’s always so glad to see us again and to get back to her normal routines like eating, running through the woods on our walks, and, of course, sleeping. And as much as I love travelling and teaching in wonderful places, I have to admit, I’m happy to be home too.

I’m sure Alice is happy to have you home. Hopefully, she’s not too jealous of the cat drawing!
She’s just so happy to follow me around that she hasn’t noticed my cat drawing. She’s my shadow today.
You HAVE been busy! Always good to be back home for awhile ❤️ Cheers! Lori

It sure is!! Catching up on everything this week!!
Cats and the back of the couch…my cats favorite spot, too.
I haven’t had a cat in many years. I’d forgotten what they are like. This one is very funny.
Dogs love routine. Big hug for Alice ❤️
You can be sure I will do that, Frieda!
Animals relaxing are the best! Welcome back Shari 🙂 It is nice (as always) to see Alice again.
Cheers, Ch
Thanks Chris. It’s so nice to be back.
I love to see animal sketches. I sketch Luke (my Cairn Terrier) every morning while sipping my first cup of coffee. Getting hair texture is tricky for me, so it’s great to see how you do it. Alice looks adorable.
It’s wonderful that you sketch Luke every day. Hair texture is tricky for me too but I try to look at the direction that the hair is growing and make marks that follow that. Alice has darker ears so I also try to convey that too with more hatching. Luckily dogs are usually very cooperative!
Nice cat & dog sketches. Like you, I don’t have much opportunity to sketch cats…dogs I occasionally see out on the street where they may stop with their owners. I’m sure Alice is very happy to have you home!!! I enjoyed seeing your sketches from California and you had such wonderful ladies to hang out with.
I sure did have great ladies to hang out with. I don’t often sketch with friends so that was really wonderful!!
Vacations are always exciting – to start, to finish. Coming home to furry friends is also a joy – and for me, the best is their homecoming happiness!
Yes, their homecoming happiness IS the best!
