Bar Harbor Village Green
Posted: October 28, 2024 Filed under: Uncategorized 13 CommentsThe Village Green in Bar Harbor is the perfect spot for an urban sketching workshop demo. There’s at least one of everything, or at least everything I want to include in a sketch. There are people, dogs, cars, buildings, trees, a distant mountain, a bald eagle flying overhead, a trash can, a lamp post, a parking meter, a gazebo, a giant clock, a fountain, benches and probably a lot more. As you can see I couldn’t include everything.
We set up in the early morning when the sun was behind a tree but as it moved, we were facing into the light, and that made things a little tricky. I wanted to convey some of the bright colours of fall but in that light, the trees were backlit and ended up darker than I was hoping they would be. Maybe next year I’ll turn around and paint the fountain and the gazebo instead.

This is so pretty, Shari. The leaves falling on the ground, the longer shadows…lovely fall colors.
Thanks so much Lois. It was a glorious morning.
So inspiring! hope I can go sometime:)
Fingers crossed!!
If you think next year’s view and sketch might be better than this year’s then I’m already looking forward to seeing it! Loving the people in this one and those little patches of repeated red!
Thanks Tony!!
Love the trees!
Susie, thank you!!
I think this has to be one of my favorites. Everything makes you feel “fall”!
Denise, thank you!!
Thank you for advertising the architect video series from the UK. I loved it. I would never have known about it except through you. I especially enjoyed the one about drawing people by Gaspar. So fun. I hope you get some new followers and people interested in buying your work.
Thanks Kathi. I was very happy to participate in that event and everyone seemed to love it!! So glad that you enjoyed it.
I love the trees
