Hockey fever

I was trying to find a subject to sketch on Main St. in Hudson today when this view caught my eye. Of course I loved the striped parasols at the pizzeria, but I also felt I should join in on hockey fever by drawing a Habs flag. In case you don’t follow hockey, the Montreal Canadiens are in the playoffs and everywhere you go in the city you’ll see their red, white and blue flag. I’ve seen it hanging on construction cranes, flapping on car windows, lit up on billboards, on buses… There are a lot of hockey fans in this city. I don’t watch during the regular season, but I’ll admit I’m a fan too during the playoffs.

I’m the same. Our Minnesota Wild are in the playoffs too. And I’ve been watching too. Tonight might be our last game though. I love the flags and the umbrellas. It’s still too cold here to paint outside unless one can find a sunny place protected from the wind.
