Hanging around

A quarter sheet of paper has been hanging around on my drawing table for months. I keep sliding it over to make room for painting stuff because I know it’s not watercolour paper. It’s way too soft. Is it printmaking paper? Maybe. I don’t remember buying it. I didn’t want to discard it so I used it for this drawing of Alice. As you can see, it takes the 2B pencil well.

As for Alice, she’s been hanging around for a long time too. She turned 13 last month! She’s a little slower on our walks but still perks up when a squirrel crosses our path or when she wants to play with younger dogs in the woods. And as always, she is exceptionally good at hanging around when I want to draw her.

Dogs are such wonderful companions. I love to see your dealings of Alice.

The 2 dachshunds at our house sleep about 20 hours a day so being still most of the time makes them good models too.

  3. I love this. I think I’ve seen pencil sketches of Alice on a few occasions and I enjoy them, of course, but I also study them. Nowadays, I often sketch in pencil just for fun when I’m not thinking about a painting project. My “rescue” dog, Luna, is always a handy and willing subject. Give my best to Alice.

God bless you for taking good care of her.
God bless Alice with good health and happiness.

All the best and good luck.
    Have beautiful day always.
    With blessings.

So sweet your lovely Alice and you render her so beautifully! My girl (my horse) is 24 and thinks she’s 10, but she has slowed down from her competition days. Keeping them healthy, comfortable and happy is the goal. I do need to draw and paint her!!!

Our pets hold such a special place in our lives. So glad that your Alice is still hanging around to be a willing subject for your drawings.
