Wheelbarrow number six

I could be wrong. I may have painted this wheelbarrow more than six times but each time I look at it there is something different that catches my eye. I have painted it in fresh snow, dappled summer shade, I have drawn it in pencil and I have even looked out of my second story window to see it from above. I never get tired of drawing it. Today the dripping snow made it look like the rusty tray itself was melting.

Beautiful work, as always, Shari. Do you know the landmark poem “The Red Wheelbarrow,” by American poet William Carlos Williams? If yu love poetry and are not familiar with him, here is that famous poem:

    so much depends
    upon

    a red wheel
    barrow

    glazed with rain
    water

    beside the white
    chickens.

    • Lee, I will direct you to this post: http://shariblaukopf.com/2012/05/25/the-red-wheelbarrow/

That is why I always say that we are kindred spirits.

Oh boy! I just KNEW you would know William Carlos Williams! I went to your link and was reminded of the plums in the icebox. So cold. Thanks. Going on a sketch crawl today in a place in Florida called “The Villages.” It must be seen to be believed. Disneyland for geezers – and it’s only ten miles from my house. Come on down and we’ll show you around.

      • Another beautiful poem Lee.
I am going to look for your sketches from The Villages.
One of these days I will come down there. Or you will come back up here. In the summer hopefully.

  2. Spring must be coming – there is a little less snow on the wheelbarrow than before 🙂

Hi Shari! Awesome sketch about wheelbarrow. I love Billy Graham wheelbarrow quotes “Most of us follow our conscience as we follow a wheelbarrow. We push it in front of us in the direction we want to go.” Thanks for your sketch.
