A dog’s life

I drew Alice a few days ago at about the same time as it is now (close to 5 pm). She’s patient, but one eye is slightly open, watching me, just in case I stand up from my computer. That could mean one of two things: a walk or dinner. Both are exciting possibilities for her. Sketched in the Robert Bateman sketchbook, 6″ x 9″.

Ahhhh, Shari. How I wish I had gotten the sketching habit when we had our many dogs and cats. This is heartbreakingly lovely.

    • Ah, thanks Lee. I had this really stressful day, driving in a lot of traffic all over the city, and when I get home and draw Alice all that stress magically disappears.

A beautifully simple pencil sketch that makes me miss my Bridie and Zazou — and makes me want to pick up a pencil and my own new Robert Bateman … ah yes, that first blank page!

  6. Linda Murray says:

Haha, Shari! You explained Alice’s thoughts so well. Miss my Maggie- I could also read her. Very nice sketch 😊

Hah !! I see that eye – well done ! So elegant yet with a slice of Alice’s “silent” humour

I am always waiting for a sketch of Alice… from Alice’s most ardent fan. I love it.
