Down to the beach

I painted this one in the shade of my car, setting up my easel in a parking lot and using my car both as a windbreak and as a shelter from the sun. Of course, sitting in this spot for a few hours allowed me the time to dream a little and think about what I would paint every day if I lived in that house, with that view…

Thanks Terry. I hadn’t used it for a long time but I quite like it. It’s smoother than Arches and very velvety.

The bad news is that I bought the last sheet at the store in Steveston and the owner does not seem to be motivated to order more of it. Not available at Opus in Vancouver……leaves me at the mercy at what I can get from Amazon, or perhaps Dick Blick from Seattle.

This is stunning – as usual. Your colors always grab me first – so masterful with greens, grays, etc but I then savor your excellent proportion & scale with all the painting’s elements. I’m so glad you share these. And really appreciated your new travel palette yesterday. Don’t stress the finger ring too much – mine popped out. And love the way you’re relaxing with daydreams, too.

and now thanks to your painting, we can enjoy our own daydream of the perfect seaside house, on a perfect sunny day with just a slight breeze rustling that tree, pause awhile on that lower level deck to sink into an adirondack chair, listen to the gulls and gentle surf….and….”hey, who’s over there painting?” Oui, c’est si bon!!

I’m new to your blog and have been plucking up my courage to write a comment, but sitting in my conservatory in cloudy Gloucestershire (in the not veryUnited Kingdom), your painting makes me just wish I was there

so I’m taking it you always work light to dark…this coming from an abstract artist that doesn’t usually use watercolors. It’s a fine dance of layers, I use to teach airbrush and it’s the same thing to add layers of color to give it a more well rounded realistic approach. But watercolor is also very subtle like using a spray sometimes right? This is really wonderful.
