Hey Jude
Posted: December 22, 2018 Filed under: Uncategorized 23 CommentsI don’t usually get to sketch on the first day of vacation but after an early morning flight and all travel plans running smoothly, I actually managed to get a sketch in before the light faded on Sanibel Island. It was a most enjoyable hour spent looking at the quickly changing light on the boats, and as I packed up my sketch stuff, right on schedule, a dolphin jumped through the water just a few feet from where I was sitting. A good start to this week, for sure.

I am very excited to see your Sanibel work again. I have heard that this location is exceptionally beautiful. Has its wildlife been harmed by the “red tide” or by blue green algae?

Hi Shari–I’m enjoying your sketchbook paintings. Do you spend the winter on Sanibel Island? If so, I’d like to invite you to paint with the SanCap Art League plein air group on Thursday mornings. I’ll send you a schedule if you’d like.Mary Lou Peters—–Mary Lou PetersWatercolor Artistmarylou@maryloupeters.comhttp://www.maryloupeters.com

HI Mary Lou. Thanks so much for emailing. I would love to paint with the group but I am only here for two weeks. I doubt you meet during this period. But you never know, maybe one of these years I will be back for longer and then for sure I will come out with you. Happy Holidays! Shari

Have you thought of teaching in Sanibel sometime while you are there?

Laurie, I have thought about it but who would come to a workshop during this holiday week. Next year I may be here for longer. Do you have a group that might be interested? Perhaps I should email you because I’d love to teach here.

I started the Southwest Florida Watercolor Society about 5 years ago. We have 50 members, however about 35 show up at meetings. December is a tough one because there are so many “Snow Birds”. If I sent out an inquiry to our group and (so many!) other art groups in the area I could get a consensus perhaps for next year, just let me know the dates you might be available for. I look forward every week to your blog and paintings, I always take time to really look at the color combinations and try to follow the process. This year I am also introducing new ways to use Watercolor, like gouache, and batik at the meeting.
