This will do
Posted: March 30, 2019 Filed under: Uncategorized 13 CommentsI’ve been watching these tulips fade and droop on my counter, intending to paint them every day, but with piles of grading to do, I just haven’t found the time. School is keeping me way too busy. Today I set aside the pile of projects for a bit, and picked up my iPad for about an hour. I’m happy I found time to draw these gently swooping stems, even if it was using Procreate instead of watercolour. This will have to do for now.
Thanks for finding the time to “paint” tulips before they are too weak to stand. They are beautiful.

You have done a good job teaching yourself procreate. They are nicely done.

I love the colors in the white tulips…who knew you could do that on an iPad!

What do you mean “this will have to do”? Procreate is a medium unto itself, and in your capable hands you’ve created a beautiful piece. The drawing and forms are wonderful! Not to mention the composition and flow off the page. I love what you’ve done,

Very nice. I got your new book in the mail a couple of days ago. I had pre-ordered it from Amazon. What a beautiful format, personal to a painter. Congratulations!

Beautifully done. I love the background color. It sets off the pink flowers beautifully and warms up the leaves just right. It really looks like a gouache painting. It seems like you started with the pencil “brush” but I’m not sure which brush or brushes you used for the rest. If you get a chance, please let me know (if you remember…) I really like how the flowers go off of the page. Very effective.

I haven’t attempted Procreate-still struggling but enjoying water colors. You are doing so well with it. I didn’t know this wasn’t painted till I read how you did this. I agree with Jeff Gold-it does resemble gouache.

Tulips get better as they get deader anyway! I’m battling with Procreate. Which month did you post about create – I’m ready for a bit of advice now! Your handling of it is brilliant!

Glad you found a bit of time to paint on your iPad. The tulips look so interesting when they start to droop a bit.
